There are certain principles that govern the creation and operation of Liberty Market. They are principles that flow out of the character of the owners.

We are CHRISTIANS. Christ has taught us how to live and we have the Holy Spirit to enable us to do so. This means that we are to have the fruit of the spirit in our lives. These are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control and it is evident in how we treat people. We do not expect our employees to be Christians, but we do expect conformance with a moral code of conduct at work, forming the work ethic of Liberty Market.

We are CRAFTSMEN. The preparation of food is an ancient, highly esteemed, and artistic endeavor. We take pride in everything we make by using proper technique and ingredients, eschewing shortcuts and simplifications that take away from the enjoyment of the finished product.

We are PROFESSIONALS. The foodservice business is an honorable profession. We do not intend ourselves or our employees to treat it as just a job. Through high standards of behavior, excellent training, a full effort to maintain esprit de corps, and fastidious cleanliness, we reinforce the level of professionalism.

We are HOSPITABLE. People are looking for places where they are known and appreciated. We will make every attempt to make each person feel welcomed and that they are truly important to us. This will be done genuinely from the heart and not from some policy statement.

We are TEACHERS. With the advent of the Food Network and celebrity chefs, there is a renewed interest in foods and their preparation. While many people consider themselves to be “foodies”, there is a great desire for education and training. We intend to teach on an informal (a chat at the pizza oven) and a formal (classes, salesperson discussions) basis.

We are SERVANTS. We are here to serve our employees and our customers. There are few people nowadays willing to humble themselves and give great service. Our goal is to provide exceptional and genuine service to each customer and for our employees to know they are as important to us as the customers we serve.

We are DESIGN-ORIENTED. Each owner is artistic and a visual thinker. We believe in putting the same effort into the physical design of the space, objects, packaging, signage, and clothing as into the food itself. People may not be able to design things themselves, but they instinctively know when great design is present. They are attracted to the use of creative giftedness in a deliberate and consistent manner.
